CMT Awards versus ACM Awards

Okay so I watched the ACM awards and it was GREAT! I will say I was surprised because some of the biggest names in country music did not get an award. For Example, Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney did not win an award. These I though would have done very well. Especially when I look at how popular their music has been. This is not to take away from the winners; all of these artist are very talented. One of the biggest surprises was Miranda Lambert taking home "Video of the Year" and "Female Video of the Year". The CMT awards are all about the video.

Kenny Chesney 3D and The ACM Awards are Right Around the Corner

Kenny Chesney 3D is coming April 21st. This 3D film will give Kenny Chesney fans a taste of the concert scene without being at the concert. I think this is fantastic! You get to see Kenny Chesney up close without having to buy front row seats. Okay, so maybe it isn't exactly the same, but I'll take it at those theater prices.

CMT Awards: Brad Paisley, George Strait, Kenny Chesney and More

Some of our favorite country singers are being nominated for some CMT awards including, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and George Strait for Entertainer of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. We don't know who we would vote for in those two categories because we love all of their music equally! Who would you vote for? To see the other nominees and categories check out this article:

We would like to see Brad Paisley win Album of the Year award for "American Saturday Night". We would vote for Kenny Chesney get the Best Vocal Event for teaming up with Dave Mathews to sing "I'm Alive"; they were a KILLER combination! And our vote goes to Miranda Lambert for Female Vocalist of the Year.

Zac Brown Band joins Kenny Chesney on Tour

At Cowboy Hat Country we are BIG fans of the Zac Brown Band and we are bigger fans of Kenny Chesney (after all his Blue Chair Bay Hat Line is our best seller this year). Imagine our suprise when we saw today's article on ChesneyWorld!

Normal Tour regular, Lady Antebellum (who we also like!) isn't going to attend and the Zac Brown band is filling in. These shows are held in Bloomington, IL and Indianapolis, IN (a great town). 

This is great news and a great way for the band to continue to raise their profile. Earlier this week they announced their Breaking Southern Ground tour that kicks off in Duluth, GA. In classic Zac Brown style, a few lucky fans will be treated to Zac Brown cooking at the shows. Nice!!

Kenny Chesney in 3D

Kenny in 3-D?? Wow...who'd have thought that was possible. But, it's true! The Dallas Morning News is reporting that a chain of movie theaters in Texas will be showing a real live Kenny Chesney concert in 3D on April 21st of next year (2010). "Studio Movie Grill owner and founder Brian Schultz says the chain is exploring plans to show college and professional football and live concerts, with one already booked – an appearance by Kenny Chesney in Dolby 3D on April 21.

Apparently the quality of this show is incredible! "Literally, I’ve never seen anything like it,” Schultz says of Dolby 3D. “It is absolutely unbelievable.”

Once again, Kenny proves that he is the master of different forms of media and not just a traditional rock star. Whether it's sexy new clothing lines like his Blue Chair Bay, or 3-D concerts, Kenny knows how to do it!

Straw Cowboy Hats: Part 1

Straw (in various forms) makes up a good portion of the Cowboy Hats we sell in our store so we figured we'd start a series that highlights some of the different types of straw that go into our hats. We always like to give our readers and customers some background information on the products we offer. 

According to Wikipedia: "Straw is an agricultural by-product, the dry stalk of a cereal plant, after the grain or seed has been removed. Straw makes up about half of the yield of cereal crops such as barley, oats, rice, rye and wheat. In times gone by, it was regarded as a useful by-product of the harvest, but with the advent of the combine harvester, straw has become more burdensome to agriculture”

However, straw can still be used in many different ways including biofuels, rope, sandals and...hats! And in our case, Cowboy Hats. 

Cowboy Hats made from Straw come in different forms. For example the ever popular Blue Chair Bay Palm Leaf Straw Cowboy Hat, shown below, is made from Palm Straw.

 

Other straw hats can be made from Raffia Straw, Toyo Straw, Shantung Straw, Bangora, and others. We will be posting information about these different types of straw over the next few months.
